Decorate your cookies with Colored Sugar. Use a paintbrush to paint patterns on baked cookies with light corn syrup, then dip in colored sugar or sprinkles. (Color sugar by mixing 1 drop of liquid food coloring into 1/2 cup of sugar.) Thank you Cheri from AZ for sharing this idea with us.

Mary from IN shared this idea with us: After cutting out your shapes, remove the center of the cut out cookie in the same shape leaving a border of about 1/2 inch or a bit more. Put cookies on foil lined cookie sheet and fill the cut-out centers with crushed lifesavers. Bake until the candy is melted and the cookies are slightly browned. Cool before removing from the pan. This give you a 'stained glass' look. Terrific on your greeting tree. Use the cut out's, insides, for bake and decorate. Twice the fun!

To use some dough and have it look like frosting just color a little of the cookie dough with food coloring says Arliss of FL. Pipe the colored dough onto the cut out cookies. The colored dough will bake into the cookies and look like frosting.

Don't make your cookies round
When all these shapes abound.
Why make your cookies square?
Bake a frog if you dare!
from tea cup to red caboose,
A mangy moose is on the loose!
Try your luck with a duck,
A Mountain Bear, a tow truck.
Make them all or make just one -
They won't last long once you're done!

Here's a delicious idea from Tammy of MO - To make a plain cookie fancy and tastier, dip in melted semi sweet chocolate. Dip half of the cookie into melted chocolate. You can sprinkle with or roll into finely chopped nuts, crushed peppermint, jimmies, coconut or whatever you choose. My daughter loves to sprinkle on colored rice krispies. Place on waxed paper until coating is set.

To easily decorate your cookies Kris from TX states: Use a sandwich bag as a decorator bag. Cut of a small tip of a corner, fill the bag with icing and squeeze to decorate. The kids love to do this with all of the colors. Fun afternoon and keeps things neater. We also use glossy lunch bags to fill with cookies. Trace the cutter shape on the bag with a marker pen. Fill with cookies and add the cutter as an extra gift.
